Climate Counts Campus Champion

What it is:

If the world's 150 largest companies reduced their greenhouse gas emissions by just 5%, it would be the equivalent of taking 42 million cars off the roads. Colleges and universities represent huge markets for these very companies.  Any college or university that wants to protect the integrity of our environment has a responsibility to think critically about the message their dollars send. It is impossible to make every purchase a truly "green" purchase. It is possible, however, to support those companies that are doing their part to combat global climate change. By choosing companies focused on climate action, college and universities can have a tremendous environmental influence.

The Impacts:

By helping lead your school toward more responsible purchasing, you can take steps to reduce your campus' climate footprint and solidifying your school's sustainability. A Campus Champion will work on three fronts: (1) advocating for responsible procurement with school administrators, resource officers, sustainability coordinators, (2) engaging students, faculty, and staff on how to become a climate-conscious consumer and activist, and (3) creating a short and concise video specific to your campus its relation to the goal of Climate Counts.

Working with Climate Counts, a Campus Champion can have an enormous impact with fellow students and campus administration. Climate Counts will provide the tools, guidance, and resources for a Campus Champion to offer campus leadership on conscious consumer action.

Where We Are:

Since 2007, between the Jack Johnson "All At Once" tour, two Dave Matthews' Band tours, multiple smaller tours with our friends at Reverb (including the Campus Consciousness Tour), field marketing on college campuses, athletic events, and to family venues like science centers, children's museums, aquariums, and zoos, we are reaching consumers all across the North American marketplace who now pull our pock et guides from their wallets and purses whenever they need help with a purchasing decision. We're also actively on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and JustMeans. With the worldwide media attention that our annual scores have earned (everything from the New York Times, BBC, and the Harvard Business Review to People Magazine, O Magazine, and Newsweek), the nu mber of consumers we have reached is growing every day.
